2. What is the result of natural selection?
1. What contributes to natural selection?
2. What is the result of natural selection? A koala hugs a tree while her baby clings to her back at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary near Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Koalas have adapted to only eat the leaves of eucalyptus trees. Eucalyptus are very low in protein and toxic to many animal species. Being able to digest eucalyptus leaves is an adaptation that benefits the koala by providing it a food source for which there is little competition. 1. Based on this information, what do you think an adaptation is? 2. How does being able to eat a toxic plant helpful to koalas? 1. Genetic diversity is differences in the genes among organisms and populations. Give an example of genetic diversity.
2. Why is genetic diversity important? 1. How do feedback loops help with homeostasis? You can give an example.
2. If two organisms have analogous structures, does that mean they are related to each other or not? 1. Is the picture to the left an example of homology or analogy? Why? 2. What is the main difference between positive and negative feedback loops? 1. What is anatomy the study of? (Use the internet to help)
2. What do you think a scientist could do to figure out if different organisms are related? 1. You have to run the mile in P.E., what three organ systems are working together to keep you moving and in homeostasis?
2. Briefly explain what each of these systems is doing for you during this running activity. 1. Tell me what you remember about homeostasis. If you don't remember, look up the definition.
2. Why do you think homeostasis is important? 1. What organs/parts does the respiratory system include?
2. What is the purpose of the integumentary system? |
